Comments: Going through a recent book that explains the Lutheran
Liturgy, I was looking at the familiar Kyrie, and just started picking something simple and
repetitive on guitar, likewise tried a really simple melody to sing. Kind of reminds me of what
I've heard John Michael Talbot do. The live recording shows that it also works with a more chordal
accompaniment.
More recently we've begun using this regularly in our service's Time of Prayer: we insert an extra instrumental
time where the officiating pastor can speak a couple of petitions. Following the close of "In Peace" we go directly
into "Our Father", a setting of the Lord's Prayer.
