Comments: This is another song related to the "holy place" where I hope to stand, both now and in eternity. As a worship opening song it does refer to coming to a physical location, our house of worship. But people also use the phrase of "coming to a place" or "being in a place" as a metaphor for a spiritual and/or emotional condition: "I'm in a place where I don't worry about that anymore." "I haven't reached the place where I can forgive what they did to me." So these verses are more of a prayer to reach a place of worship, surrender, peace, and joy. The cross of Christ gives us access to that place and remembering the cross helps to clear the obstacles, real or imagined, that keep us from entering it.
