What do we give our daughters
What do we give our sons
What are we handing down to  our little ones
We try to be good providers
answering all their needs
but are we planting are we watering seeds

When you train up a child
in the way he should go
when he is old his steps won't depart from the road
in a time when our fam'lies are bleeding it's
clear that we're needing to know
how to train up a child in the way he should go Oh

Where are the good examples
Who stands for the Holy One
Where is the testimony to what God has done
Where is the faithful shepherd who
leads with a gentle staff
Who guards these precious hearts on the Lord's behalf

Who will train up a child
in the way he should go
when he is old his steps won't depart from the road
in a time when our culture is burning it's
time we were learning to know
how to train up a child in the way he should go Oh

I have a picture in my mind
of when the Savior took the time
to play with chilren on His way
They laughed and ducked behind His knees
the Kingdom belongs to such as these
so much we have to teach them
so much we need to learn
we can

Learn how to trust completely
Teach them the things God said
Cling to the One Who's risen up  from the dead
Teach them the love of Jesus
And learn how to live with joy
built on a rock that time cannot  destroy
