Comments: I had never heard this phrase, nor was I aware it is used regularly in Roman Catholic liturgy as preparation to receive the Eucharist, before reading it in an article by a Protestant prisoner encountering it for the first time. It struck me powerfully, as it did him. We've now begun using it in our Lutheran communion services.
